A Wonderful Charles II Oak Canopied Court Cupboard

The raked back canopy, having turned supports to the front, horizontally boarded back, with a shaped shelf. The top rail, decorated with a simple gadrooned carving.

Below the canopy, the upper section of the cupboard has a superbly carved top rail, showing daisy-like flower heads, interspersed with lozenges. There are scrolled brackets to the centre and either end. This upper section has two opening doors, set between panels, all carved with a flamboyant lozenge, which have “curly” pendants, a design which is repeated on the two bottom doors. 

The carving is of the highest quality, embellished with cross hatching and stamp decoration. 

Excellent proportions, stunning colour and patina, and very original condition.
